When Noobill was launched as a bill-tracking app, George Wang – the app’s creator – set out to make bill management easier. But as Noobill’s user base grew, so too did its purpose. It meant Noobill needed a new name. A name that would help the app grow even more.
Kicking off our naming project with Tandem.
At the request of our friends at Tandem, the Perth brand-building experts, we worked with the Noobill team to develop a new name, taking a detailed brief that informed our tried-and-tested brand naming process.
It’s a process that explores a host of different types of names. All on-brief, all designed to help the brand grow. In doing so, we take the client on a journey that almost inevitably – through a process of discussion and elimination – leads to the most suitable, appropriate name. Not the name the client necessarily likes most (in the first instance), but the name that is the best fit for purpose.
Think of the app as your financial-life buddy.
As we worked through and whittled down the naming types and conventions, it soon became clear we were looking for a person’s name – a name that positions the app as your financially literate friend and helper.
And after much exploration and deliberation, we landed on Ayla. A warm, friendly name that doubles as an acronym to give us a working tagline that perfectly describes the app’s raison d'être: Automating Your Life’s Admin.
